As far as I can tell no one has ever made me feel so welcomed and so appreciated. I’ve always had people who have been very kind to me, but this is the first time anyone has given me such a warm welcome. I feel like I’m in a safe place. I love that I get to connect with people in Sweden, but I still feel like Im far from welcome at this point. I mean, I know I am. I just know it. I dont like it, but I cannot help it, because I am who I am and Im afraid I wont ever be able to do things like this in my own country. What do I do to change that? I dont know.

I can understand why you feel that way, and I totally sympathize with you. But don’t worry. There is a way you can make it right.

To all those worried that you’re not welcome, you’re not wrong. You’re not wrong because you’re not allowed to be. You’re wrong because you’re wrong. It’s all right. You’re wrong because you are not who you are. You are not really a Swede. You are a fake Swede.

In the end, we cannot change the fact that Sweden itself is a very strange place. In this country, it’s acceptable to be a fake Swede. In this country, it’s acceptable to be a real Swede. In this country, you can be a fake Swede and then be a real Swede. In this country, you can be a real Swede, but then be a fake Swede.
